Former Accra Hearts of Oak management member Aziz Haruna Futah has condemned their fans “barbaric” act in their First Capital Plus premier league game against Hasaacas at the Accra Stadium on Sunday.
Some fans allegedly threw objects at assistant referee Badiun Alhassan in protest of allowing a goal they thought was an offside.
The game was held up for close to 25 minutes following the attack on the match official who had to be replaced by fourth referee Yaw Ametepe after he complained of dizziness.
“Though the decision from the assistant referee was wrong for me I think the fans shouldn’t have thrown those objects onto the field, it is against football,” said Aziz Haruna Futah
“Some of us that witnessed the stadium disaster in 2001 will never do this so I plead with the fans to calm down in such situations.”
Hasaacas recorded their first win over Hearts of Oak in Accra for the first time in the 21st century by beating them 2-1 on Sunday.
