A selection of photos from across the African continent last week.

Somalia marks independence day on Friday with some residents of the capital, Mogadishu, dressing up in national colours to celebrate the ruins of the coutnry's former parliament.

The following day the work of some of the continent's top designers off at the African Fashion Week in Lagos, Nigeria.

Kenyan protestors use some vivid props to make their point at a demonstration in the capital, Nairobi, agaisnt what they described as extrajudicial killlings by the police. Four policmen have been detained in connection with the murders of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and their driver.

On Thursday a Zimbabwean protestor is photographed in the country's second city, Bulawayo, a some people clasehd with police after two activists were detained.

Some people in Liberia on Friday try to see the funny side of the only road to the airport being cut off by flooding. Travellers are forced to use a canie to catch their flights.

On Tuesday, Angola's Reggie Moore leaps for the ball at an Olympic qualifying game against Puerto Rico in Serbia.

On Thursday, Muslims across Africa marked the end of the month-long Ramadan fast. outside the Central Mosque in Lagos, Nigeria, a man tries on a new hat for the festivities...

In Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, men dance and sing to mark the festival of Eid ul-Fitr

In the small town of Assin Foso, in Ghana's Central Region, women dance during an Eid parade.

In Kano, Northern Nigeria, the Durbar, or race to reach the Emir's palace, is part of the Eid festivities.

In Mogadishu, children enjoy themselves after attending the Eid prayers.
