Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan has been pictured greeting officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Poland with a newly adopted anti-Ebola handshake.
The Ebola pandemic is currently spreading across West Africa and is believed to have killed over 1,000 people in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria since the outbreak began in February.
Patience Jonathan arrived the Gdansk Walesa International Airport in Sopoto, Northern Poland Wednesday to commission a training ship built for the Nigerian Oceanographic Institute for Marine and Research purposes.
Instead of the conventional hand shaking form of greetings, the new anti-Ebola greeting with the two hands fisted together was adopted. In that new style of greeting there is no physical contact between persons.

Symptoms typically start two days to three weeks after contacting the virus with a fever, throat and muscle pains, and headaches. There is then typically nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, along with decreased functioning of the liver and kidneys. At this point some people begin to have problems with bleeding.
The disease is usually acquired when a person comes into contact with the blood or bodily fluids of an infected animal such as a monkey or fruit bat.
