The Persus Mining Ghana Limited has donated two patrol vehicles to the Dunkwa Divisional Police Command in the Central Region.
The two Toyota Land cruiser Troopers were presented after a request by the divisional command in its quest to curb the high rate of armed robbery within the community, especially on the Ayanfuri-Dunkwa stretch.
During a short presentation ceremony, Acting General Manager of the mining company, Andy Amoah said the gift is to show the company’s commitment to support various institutions including the Ghana Police Service.
He indicated that, the patrol cars will now assist police to respond quickly to distress calls from residents.
Stressing that, the security of people within the community in which the company operates is paramount.
Mr Amoah also lauded the police for their “unflinching support in areas such as asset protection, investigation and prosecution of offenders and above all finding common ground between the company and aggrieved parties in the course of its operations.”
Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited will soon hand over a befitting police barrier at Adwenpaye which includes changing rooms as well as ablution rooms for both male & female police officers.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Dunkwa Divisional Police Command, the Deputy Regional Commander, DCOP Habiba Twumasi expressed profound gratitude and pledged the cars will be used for its intended purpose.
“Our resources will be well protected if the community members are well protected,” she added.
