Adjetey Anang says it feels good and exciting to know that the 'Perfect Picture-10 Years Later' movie is doing so well and has received great appraises on Netflix from movie lovers.
In an interview with JoyNews' Doreen Avio, he stated, “it is a splendid movie and the fact that everybody can have the opportunity to see it gives me some fulfilment."
Adjetey Anang, who is also a cast in the critically acclaimed movie, said it helps to have a story with authentic plots that can be sold worldwide on the highly purchased movie streaming platform.
“The quality of our storylines and how we factor in things we can relate and that give us an identity that we want the world to see. I think that sometimes we are conscious about making money but we should balance that with our own stories and telling our authentic stories that are hardly told," he added.
“They have raised the bar but we are not behind. If anything at all, we are writing shoulder to shoulder with them. I just think that because of their numbers, they will definitely have quite a number of their movies in there. We are hoping to see more Ghanaian movies on that platform too.”
For Adjetey Annan the appointment of Bozoma Saint John's as Chief Marketing Officer of Netflix is good news since she can be of help to the Ghanaian movie industry.
“It is good news to have a Ghanaian on the board and marketing level on Netflix. It is exciting to know but it all depends on the support we give her and entirely up to her since she would know the terrain that we do and the ways and means she can be of help to for us and our productions and content."
Adjetey Anang, however, added that if the content of the productions are not good Bozoma cannot be expected to "bend backwards" for the country.
"We look forward to her reaching out to us especially the film practitioners so that we can take advantage of the position. But this is not anyway asking her to bend backwards because she also has expectations to meet.”
The Perfect Picture – 10 years joined Netflix in July. This is the second movie from celebrated producer and director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso to make on to Netflix.
