Brazilian legend Pele is in an intensive care unit after his condition worsened during a stay in hospital.
The 74-year-old, real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was admitted for the second time this month on Tuesday.
And his urinary infection is thought to have worsened, leading doctors to take the three-time World Cup winner into the ICU.
The former footballer, who is now famous for his humanitarian work, had an operation on November 12 to remove kidney stones and was discharged on November 15 before being re-admitted this week.
