The Peki Senior High School in the South Dayi District has for some time had challenges with infrastructural and other basic facilities which need to be urgently addressed according to the school’s authorities.
At the Founders Day and Prize-giving day held on the premises of the PESCO, the Headmistress, Peace Ama Ģoka, outlined the difficulties the school goes through in pursuit of quality education
The physically-challenged headmistress noted that the school does not have vehicles for daily errands especially to take care of her special need to commute.
She also lamented the sanitary situation of the school stressing that the school lacks modern toilet facilities making it difficult for the students to cope especially the teenage girls.
Ms Peace Ama Goka lamented how most girls absent themselves from classes whenever they are in their menstrual period.
She wants government to step in to help with good and hygienic toilet facilities for the school.
"Most of our girls dodge classes whenever they are in their period due to lack of decent toilet facilities and this is negatively affecting their studies," Ms Gaka lamented.
Ms Goka also said there is an urgent need for government to take a critical look at their dilapidated science resource centre, staff accommodation, computers and accessories for the ICT department among many other infrastructure challenges.
"We would be eternally grateful to stakeholders and other well-wishers if they can help in addressing our challenges by providing the itemised needs or by putting their lobbying skills at the disposal of the school to achieve all these,” Ms Peace Ama Goka appealed.
She pledged the commitment and support of the ideas, efforts and programmes of the Old students and stakeholders aimed at developing Peki Senior High School.
The South Dayi Director of Education, Victor Kwaku Kove urged the students to be dedicated to the core values of education and make sure that they do their best to excel in their academics
Some 59 students were awarded prizes for their dedication and hard work.
