Reverend Winifred Anang, Superintendent Minister in charge of the Peki District of the Methodist Church of Ghana, has advised Christians to strive to uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ by assisting the needy in society.
"Show love to one another and assist the needy in society because service to man is service to God", she said.
Rev. Anang gave the advice when she presented 100 bags of cement worth GH¢ 800 (8 million cedis), on behalf of the Peki District of the Church to the local Methodist Church at Dzemeni in the North Dayi District at the weekend.
The donation was to assist the fledgling church to complete a new chapel.
Rev. Anang said sharing, a vital teaching of Christ that showed in the lives of the early Christians, was missing in present day Christendom.
She said selfishness and avarice were now the order of the day and blamed the situation on religious leaders who preached wealth instead of Christian virtues.
Rev. Anang said the Methodist University had also donated GH¢500 (Five million cedis) to the Church towards the completion of the chapel and appealed to philanthropists and Christian organizations to come to aid of the Dzemeni branch of the Church.
Mr Winfred Nyamadi, Catechist, who received the items on behalf of the Church, expressed gratitude to the donors and appealed to citizens of the area to assist the Church to complete the project on time.
