The first batch of students in the PartnerAfrika-Projekt KNUST have completed an internship programme.
One hundred and twenty students were selected for the inaugural PartnerAfrika–Projekt KNUST 2022 Summer Internship Programme.
The training programme consisting of 12 modules, is a blend of technical sessions on environmental sustainability as well as sub-skills.
The Principal Investigator, Prof Jerry John Kponyo, emphasized the project’s goal at making students industry ready.
“To impact industry productively, we need to pay particular attention to sustainability and efficiency, and this is why the PartnerAfrika-Project has trained you in this regard to fit into the industry,” he said
He appreciated the collective efforts of the project partners: Arqum, Unternehmer Baden-Württemberg (UBW), Sequa, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP), College of Engineering and College of Engineering Innovation Centre.
“I am convinced that the future belongs to those who take advantage of opportunities like this, and I thank all of you for partaking in this initiative,” he said.
Thilo Baar and Jacqueline Gappa from Arqum charged the participants to leverage the training to positively impact society.
“You are the future problem solvers and change makers. Take all the lessons with you and make an impact to change the world,” Thilo Baar urged.
Joseph Derrick Anane Nti Koduah, a 3rd-year Biomedical Engineering student, was adjudged the best-performing student.
“The internship has been a life-changing experience. I interned at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where I was assigned to the accident and emergency unit.
“I utilized what I learned in the classroom and the internship training I received. I’m grateful for the opportunity and commend my colleagues on their accomplishments,” he said.
