The Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, has rendered an unqualified apology to the residents of Wa in the Upper West Region, who were brutalised by some soldiers.
The Chairman of the Committee, Kennedy Agyapong, assured the victims that members will leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of the matter.
"We will ensure that you get justice. We have seen things for ourselves. You can count on us and we will deliver justice. Where there is no justice, there is no peace," he added.

On Thursday, July 1, 2021, some soldiers were seen in a video brutalising some residents at the Wa Tindanba Crescent and the Daily market, over the alleged theft of a mobile phone supposedly belonging to a Military officer.
Twenty-two persons sustained injuries with the severest being a fracture on the right thigh bone of the victim.
Gafur Mahama has since undergone surgery on his right thigh and is recovering at home.

Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee tasked to probe the matter, arrived in Wa on Thursday, July 15, 2021, on a two-day fact-finding mission.
Since its arrival, the Committee has engaged the victims to ascertain what transpired on the day of the incident.

The Committee handed over GH5,000 to Gafur Mahama for his upkeep.
Also, the Chairman of the Committee has appealed to residents to put the unfortunate incident behind them and cooperate with the security agencies to ward off any terrorist threat against the country.
