Ghana’s Harry Stacey has admitted his performance was not his best after finishing seventh in the Men’s 100m Freestyle at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The debutant emerged second from the bottom with a time of 51.12s in Heat 4, lane 6, which was not enough to secure a slot in the semi-finals.
The time is below his personal best of 50.57s, achieved at the Africa Aquatics Swimming Championship.
“It was not my best, normally I am first to 50m or second and also first to the turn but this time, I was around fourth, so my first 50m was not my best,” Stacey said.
“I am not too mad at the performance but it was not my best for sure. But building blocks to the future.”
His outing was Ghana's first at the ongoing Games in Paris.
Next up for Ghana is Joselle Mensah, who will participate in swimming on August 3.
Before that, Rose Yeboah will compete in the preliminary round of the high jump.
