Former President Jerry John Rawlings is set to mark his 60th birthday today, June 22, with a party at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
He was born on June 22, 1947.
Invitations to what promises to be a hugely festive evening have already been dispatched to friends and the media, and an accompanying note politely asks invitees to indicate their acceptance of the invitation or not.
“We would be grateful if you would indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this invitation to the Birthday Celebration. Thank you.”
Many expect the former President to use the occasion to speak of the ills of the society, apart from reflecting on his life.
