A former headteacher at Ahamansu Erishad Primary School in Kadjebi, Patrick Wisdom Krampah, has been recommended for arrest by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for receiving in unearned salary.

The Auditor-General's Report revealed that Mr. Krampah had been paid an amount of GH₵72,759.32 from February 2018 to June 2020, although he was no longer employed by the Ghana Education Service.

The report had recommended that the Regional Education Director should ensure that Mr. Krampah returns the money he received, plus interest, to the Auditor-General's Recovery Account at the Bank of Ghana.

In addition, the committee recommended that the District Director of Education should be held responsible for the payment and should be held accountable for their role in the incident.

But appearing before the committee, the Kadjebi District Director of Education, Seth Seyram Deh indicated that Mr. Krampah has failed to pay back the money with the interest that was supposed to be added.

“Nothing has been recovered yet. These issues happened before I came. When the audit report came, I wrote to Mr. Krampah asking him for a refund. He sent me some documents telling me he has not taken any unearned salary so he was not going to pay.”

“I invited him back to the office again, myself and the accountant, the HR and dialogued with him, made him see reason to pay.

The district director stated that Mr. Krampah had been invited to the regional office again, where he agreed to make some payments.

Mr. Deh revealed that Mr. Krampah has not been reachable on his phone for the past three days, raising concerns that he may be trying to avoid making any payments

The chairman of the committee, James Klutse Avedzi, has strongly advised that Mr. Krampah should be arrested due to the fact that he has received government money without performing any work.

“As soon as he gets back, let the police pick him. Unless he runs away. He cannot run away. He wants to prove difficult. Let the police pick him and lock him. He should be bailed then the process will trigger from there,” he said.
