Businessman Sam Jonah is warning against the implementation of policies that worsen the plight of Ghanaians.
According to him, in this economic downtown, “it is crucial that decisions are taken with empathy and key understanding of the impact of our actions on the lives of our citizens.”
For this reason, he urged policymakers not to make policies that “would exacerbate the existing struggles our citizens are facing.”
Mr Jonah made this remark during a graduation ceremony at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
His comment comes days after Parliament passed the new revenue measures - the Income Tax Amendment Bill, The Excise Duty Amendment Bill and the Growth and Sustainability Amendment Bill.
Sam Jonah believes key policymakers must listen more in such difficult times and speak less.
“My humble advise to key policymakers is that the times that we live in call for a very healthy push of humility in decision-making as we navigate the difficult path of economic restructuring,” he added.
He also called for unity in the hard times.
“As a nation, we must come together to face these challenges head-on. We must foster a spirit of unity, resilience and determination, we must work collectively to create opportunity for our youth in particular so that we can build a future that is filled with promise and prosperity,” he said.
