The National Communication Officer for the NDC has said the "Edwuma Pa" agenda in the 'People's manifesto' will elevate and liberate Ghanaian from poverty.
Sammy Gyamfi said this will ensure "shared prosperity for all and not a select few to avoid the problem of working poor."
Speaking to the press at the party's 14th Weekly Press Briefing, he explained that the 'Peoples' Manifesto' "Jobs and Prosperity for All" agenda will constitute several policies that would develop various sectors in the economy to enhance the welfare of all citizens.
Mr Gyamfi said this would ensure that each individual would get a fair share of the national cake to foster the creation of jobs, present a means of living to citizens and also encourage consumption, savings, and investment.
He said the NDC believes that the growth of the economy has been stagnated by the rate of unemployed persons in the country.
This, Mr Gyamfi attributed to the failure of the incumbent government led by President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, an "Employment Act to provide a comprehensive framework for job creation and labour market statistics" will be the first step the Mahama-led administration would undertake to undo the harm done by the NPP government.
"Our vision for jobs, dubbed “Edwumapa”, is a solemn pledge that will focus on creating, one million permanent jobs with decent wages in four years.
"To achieve this, the next NDC/Mahama government will create a minimum of 250,000 sustainable jobs with decent wages every year over the next 4 years. This will translate into a total of 1 million sustainable/permanent jobs and not ad hoc jobs in four years," he said.
