Hearts of Oak Head Coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has promised to fix the defensive mistakes that almost cost his team their exciting 3-2 win against Accra Lions.
Despite the win, Ouattara was unhappy with how his team lost focus in the second half, allowing two goals before making a dramatic comeback.
The Phobians took the lead in the 37th minute with a brilliant header from Mohammed Hussein.
But after halftime, defensive errors let Accra Lions equalize in the 52nd minute through Lucky Nwafor and take the lead in the 73rd minute with Blessing Dankwa’s goal.
Substitute Mawuli Wayo saved the day, scoring two quick goals in the 81st and 84th minutes to secure the win.
Ouattara admitted the defensive mistakes but said the most important thing was getting the victory.
“We lost focus after halftime,” Ouattara said in a post-match interview.
“I’m not sure why, but what matters is that we got the three points.”
He also praised his substitutes, especially Wayo, for turning the game around.
Hearts of Oak are now sixth on the league table with 25 points.
