The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, with the support of First Atlantic Bank and Nguvu Mining Limited, has cut sod for the redevelopment of the Kumasi Children's Park at Amakom.
Phase One of the project comprises fencing of the park, installation of a solar farm to lighten the area, and construction of washroom and security facilities, which is expected to be completed in 24 months.
Board Chairman of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie Adjei Woahene II, says the redevelopment of the park will afford children a conducive space to play and learn.

"In the 1980s, the Children’s Park was where the children played and learned, but we heard that it degenerated and became a place for intruders, scammers and armed robbers. We don't want it that way," he said.
The project is to restore the park for children to help develop their minds and expose them to new opportunities, while fostering social community development.
Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Samuel Pyne, said the recreational facility will help reduce the security risk in the area and promote access to quality learning.

He pledged the support of the KMA to ensure the successful completion of the project to serve its purpose.
Wife of the Asantehene, Lady Julia Osei-Tutu led the sod-cutting, supported by staff of First Atlantic Bank and Nguvu Mining Company.
