In a heartfelt plea for harmony and tranquility, the Oti Regional Minister, Dr Joshua Makubu, has called for an immediate end to tribal clashes among the various communities in Nkwanta.
The Minister's appeal comes amidst rising tensions that have unfortunately resulted in clashes between tribes in the region.
Dr Makubu at a brief meeting with media personnel seeking clarification on the conflict in Nkwanta, expressed deep concern over the recent escalation of the conflict within Nkwanta. He emphasized the importance of unity and understanding among the diverse tribes in the region.
"Peace is the cornerstone of development, and without it, progress becomes elusive. It is disheartening to witness our communities torn apart by tribal conflicts, which only serve to hinder the growth and prosperity we all seek," remarked Dr Makubu during the press briefing.
The Oti Regional Minister urged community leaders, traditional rulers, and residents alike to embrace dialogue and reconciliation as the means to resolve differences. He stressed the need for open communication channels to foster understanding and build bridges between the various tribes in Nkwanta.
"I implore all parties involved to come to the table with open hearts and minds. Let us prioritize peaceful dialogue over violence, understanding over ignorance, and unity over division. We are stronger together," Dr Makubu declared.
As part of his initiative to promote peace, the minister announced plans to convene a peace summit that would bring together representatives from the conflicting tribes, community leaders, and other stakeholders. The summit aims to create a platform for open discussions, allowing participants to voice their concerns and work collectively towards sustainable solutions.
Residents have expressed their support for the minister's efforts, with many hoping that the peace summit will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Nkwanta. Some community leaders have already indicated their willingness to participate in the dialogue, expressing optimism that a resolution can be reached through peaceful means.
The Oti Regional Minister's call for peace resonates not only within Nkwanta but echoes across the region, serving as a reminder of the crucial role that unity plays in fostering growth and development.
As the community prepares for the upcoming peace summit, all eyes are on the leaders and residents of Nkwanta, hopeful for a future free from tribal conflicts and marked by collaboration and understanding.
