Osagyefo Kwamena Enimil VI, paramount chief of Wassa Fiase Tradtional Area, has expressed gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for carving a municipality and a district out of Wassa West District.
A press statement signed by the Paramount Chief said; “The Paramountcy lauds the decentralization process the government has undertaken that has resulted in elevation of Wassa West District Assembly to Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality and Prestea/Huni-Valley to District Assembly.
"We are resolved to fully support the process and hope as far as practicable be accorded the requisite opportunity to participate effectively in the governing process to help achieve a functional decentralization of power".
It said the Chiefs and people of Wassa Fiase therefore express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the elevation.
However, Osagyefo Enimil has called on those who wanted the District capital to be sited at Prestea to exercise restrain because so many things were taken into consideration before it was chosen.
