Opoku Nti will today take charge of Asante Kotoko after the shock resignation of head coach Ebo Mends on Monday.
The club has confirmed Nti in an acting role as they look to recruit a substantive coach.
The former club and Ghana international joined Kotoko this season as an advisor to the Board Chairman but will now adapt to coaching starting at Dormaa on Sunday where they play against champions Aduana Stars.
And he comes in at a difficult time as Kotoko recorded their second straight defeat in the league on Sunday to rivals Hearts of Oak after having lost to city rivals King Faisal, the week before.
Kotoko have lost three times in eight games this season and are fifth on the table.
