Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, Esq.
Accra, Ghana
Dear Mr. Kyeremanten,
CONTESTING IN THE UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES OF NPP
I pray you are in good health. I write in reference to the above titled subject, and your recent announcement on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, and the Africawatch Magazine for May 2014 to contest the NPP Presidential Primaries when the party opens nomination for the contest.
I have personally been very supportive of your political career from afar, and it will bring me great joy to see a competent person like you occupying the presidential chair of our country. I am without a doubt that you love our country, Ghana, and that you will do great things for this country should you ascend the presidential chair. To that extent Sir, I remain loyal to you.
That said, I have assessed the temper of the country since the beginning of this year and have held conversations with many people, and observing the signs of the times and the phases of public opinion, both within and without our party, I am of the opinion that it would be best to support Akufo-Addo to lead our dear party into the 2016 general elections. Sir, I believe your time would come again in four years.
Sir, you and Akufo-Addo are the two most prominent representative men of the great New Patriotic Party, but he is older than you. His friends and many within our party believe that it is “now or never” with him, and that to postpone him now is to postpone him forever. They believe he has served the party well over three decades and has attained the highest level of statesmanship within the country. This is Akufo-Addo’s time.
You, on the other hand, are in the prime of life and have the promise of continuing so. You have not attained your full stature or status. Akufo-Addo has. Every year adds to your strength, and in 2020, you will be stronger than in 2016. To be urgent now against the settled feeling of Akufo-Addo’s numerous friends and the party, would provoke unpleasant and damaging discords, and tend hereafter to weaken your position.
I suspect that you might disagree with my recommendation to support Akufo-Addo, but I know you will not question my integrity or the great admiration and loyalty that the likes of me have for you.
Sincerely,
Naa Adorkor Tetteh
