The good deeds of Ghana's former Finance Minister, the late Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, appears to follow him even to his grave.
The name of the late amiable minister for several portfolios in the J.A. Kufuor-led New Patriotic Party administration, came up for praise after Works and Housing Minister, Albert Abongo, cited him as the only one out of about ten former ministers whose official residence was left intact with its furnishings.
The official residence of the rest have either been looted or burgled by unknown persons.
According to the minister, who spoke on Joy FM's Super Morning Show, the about nine official residences are bare of their furnishings, with missing items including carpets, air-conditioners, ceiling fans and fridges.
"I would say that just one was fairly in good stead and that is the one that belonged to the former minister for finance, the late minister for finance. That was in good state because all the furniture were there, the cookers and the fridges were all there... the air-conditioners too were there but for the rest, there were varying degrees of incompleteness."
The Minister and other state functionaries on Tuesday toured some of the ministerial bungalows in the company of journalists and discovered that household appliances and other furnishings were missing from most of the residences.
He preferred not to mention names of the immediate past occupiers of the houses concerned but said he has asked for an audit of those places to inform the next line of action.
The late Baah-Wiredu held the Local Government Ministry and that of Education, Youth and Sports, before being appointed the Finance Minister.
His works in each of the ministries he held was praised by many.
The former Asante Akim North Member of Parliament died in a South African hospital where he was receiving treatment in September last year.
