Vitting Senior High Technical School has secured a slot in the 2022 Onga Cook art National Contest, after beating Tamale SHS and 4 other schools.
The schools drawn from the Savannah and Northern region sought to outdo each other to claim the bragging rights.
For Ghana Senior High School, the stakes were higher because they qualified for the national competition last year and held the title as reigning regional champions.
After the first three rounds, Vitting Senior High Technical School, Tamale SHS, and Northern school of Business proved to be the top dogs and left an uphill task for Ghana Senior High School, while trying to overwhelm each other.
It was then time for the final lap, Chief Judge, Lilian Vester Nyarko had to taste the various dishes prepared by the contestants and award marks.
At the end of the contest, Vitting Senior High Technical School's guinea fowl stew, served with vegetable wawasa, eleleyeei nyombeka and fruity soya punch stole the day securing them the first position with 76 percent.
They will represent Zone 7 in the National competition scheduled to kickstart in Kumasi from March 19 to 27.
Tamale SHS came second with 74.5 percent and Northern School of Business followed closely taking the 3rd position with 73.5 percent.
Each participant received souvenirs from lead sponsor Onga.
Vitting SHTS also received ¢1000 cash prize courtesy of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to help in their preparations toward the nationals.
