ACCRA Great Olympics and city rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak will rekindle their age-long rivalry at the Ho Stadium tomorrow in a top Onetouch league 23-week league fixture.
Ahead of the mouth-watering clash, Olympics, who are clearly the underdogs in this encounter have fired the first salvo, predicting a win over Hearts who are the league leaders.
Unfortunately, the Wonder Club’s assurance of winning their 22nd and 23rd league matches hit a snag last Wednesday when they were crushed by Berekum Arsenal. Hearts won theirs against Hasaacas.
As the day draws nigh, Olympics biggest headache would be what to do to break even with their vow, having already lost the first prediction of a sweet victory over Arsenal.
Sadly enough, Olympics would be playing a high-riding Hearts of Oak who are leaving no stone unturned to extend their lead in the competition.
This is what makes the clash a more daunting one for the two sides, but more especially, Olympics who would attempt to avoid a second successive defeat.
Apart from that, their first round loss to the Phobians at Tema is still haunting them, and they know so well that only a victory can exorcise that ghost.
Luckily for them, the return of Michael Ocansey to partner hardworking midfielder, Emmanuel Sosu, Michael Quaye and top striker, Tanko Mohammed will boost the morale of the team to face the fast and confident Hearts of Oak side.
Just like Olympics, morale in the Phobian camp is on the ascendancy following the return of Dan Coleman and Yaw Amankwah Mireku whose presence could make things tough for the ‘Agosu’ lads.
Comparatively, Hearts boast of a more experienced side and stand as clear favourites in the encounter but could pay dearly for any form of underestimation.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko face an equally difficult battle at the Sunyani Coronation Park where they play as guests of Kumasi King Faisal.
Matches between these two sides have always been thrilling and ex citing and tomorrow’s clash will be no exception considering the diverse circumstances in their respective camps.
While the Alhaji Grusah’s Faisal struggle to find a comfortable position on the league table, Kotoko would aim at recording a good result to keep the heat on the leaders, Hearts of Oak.
Kotoko would be under more pressure to win as a result of their not too impressive run lately and that could either inspire them to victory or make them jittery.
But whichever side of the divide they find themselves, Faisal would need to play one of their best games and take their chances if they want to escape the wrath of their city rivals.
At the Gyandu Park, Sekondi Hasaacas would oblige their bogey side, Dansoman Liberty Professionals while relegation threatened Feyenoord welcome Power FC to the Swedru Park.
Bofoakwa Tano will travel up north to face the might of RTU while Ashgold vent their anger on Gamba All Blacks at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
