Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson made it a sprint double at the Rio Olympics with gold in the 200m final.
It was a talent-filled field, with Dafne Schippers the main rival to Thompson for the top spot.
And even though Thompson crossed the line with daylight between here and the Dutch sprinter, she waited anxiously to see her win confirmed.
21.78 was the winning time, with Schippers in second and the USA's Tori Bowie collecting bronze.
Schippers, world 200m champion, picked up a leg muscle injury ahead of the 100m final last week and said she almost pulled out of the Games... but still ran a season's best to push Thompson all the way.
Thompson has said she was surprised by her victory after winning the 100m final, but she appeared in complete control in the 200 after a brilliant bend that helped her surge ahead of the field going into the straight.
Ahead of the final, bronze medalist Bowie was the only woman other than Schippers to have run a sub-22 second race over 200m this year.
Britain's Dina Asher-Smith improved markedly in the final after sneaking through as a fastest loser, finishing in a respectable fifth.
