The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, says he is thrilled by Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s humility and his respect for people, especially the elderly in society.
He said some people change and become arrogant after being elected into higher public offices in government, but he can boldly state that Dr Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’ is not one of them.
The revered traditional leader said he has known Napo for some time, and he has realized that his rise in public office has not changed his humble and respectful nature.
The Okyenhene particularly heaped tons of praises on Napo, who is the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for the swift manner in which he answers phone calls.
“Napo is not the ministers whose phones are always busy. He always answers my calls”, the Akyem Abuakwa Overlord said when Napo visited his palace in Kyebi on Thursday.
Still praising Napo, the Okyenhene stated emphatically “I say this on record, I have not called Napo that he didn’t answer the phone. He always answers my calls with the utmost respect.
“Even if he is outside the country and because of different time factors he didn’t see the call, he will call back with humility and say Nana please I just woke up to see your missed call.”
The Okyenhene blessed Napo for his positive attitude and urged him to sustain his lifestyle, adding that people who are elected into public office should emulate Napo’s lifestyle.
“People who are elected into public and high office should know that they have been appointed to serve. You serve your people, and your people will reciprocate by also serving you.
“May God bless Napo. Okyeman will pray for you (Napo) as you tour the country to campaign”, Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin declared, attracting wild applause from his audience.
The Okyenhene said Napo doesn’t only respect people, but he (Napo) is also a workaholic and a results-oriented leader, recounting how Napo changed the education sector as Minister of Education.
He said that as Minister of Education, Napo, against all odds, was able to implement the Free Senior High School (SHS) social intervention policy, which has increased enrollment in schools.
The Okyenhene said Napo’s splendid works at the education ministry have started bearing fruits as more people are being educated now.
According to him, in this computer era, it’s only through proper education that countries could develop and become prosperous, stressing that, indeed, Napo deserves to be praised.
