Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, has called on senior citizens to offer themselves as members of unit committees.
He said most of the time unit committee members were made up of the youth while the elderly do not show much interest.
Mr Ofori-Donkor was speaking at a reception he hosted for senior citizens in the district to mark Republic Day at Nkawie.
He said in such situations some members of the community continue to defy directives given to them especially during communal labour sessions.
The DCE also urged the senior citizens to help check insubordination on the part of some youth towards unit committee members and opinion leaders to ensure effective development of the communities.
