Ex-Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey has revealed his desire to take up the coaching job of the national Under-17 team, the Black Starlets.
The Starlets in the 90s served as reference points for the country’s football in international competitions but today the team struggles to even qualify for African championships.
Odartey Lamptey who personally dominated the Under-17 World Cup in 1991 and won the player of the tournament award, believes he can return the team to its glorious days if given the job.
Speaking to JOY Sports Nathaniel Attoh, the 36-year-old claims he has the credentials to win laurels for the country.
"It’s my dream. I don’t think I would ever close that door. It’s in the hands of the GFA boss and the technical director Oti Akenteng.
"I always believe in experience. If there is something you can buy, it’s not experience."
He added, “I have done it and I know the secret and everything that is in that area, so when given the opportunity I will grab it and ensure juvenile football comes back to life.”
Odartey Lamptey now runs a football academy after a short coaching stint at Second Eleven Wise.
