An Accra-based soccer academy, Obeis Football Management, on Friday began a "justify your inclusion” exercise as part of its annual 'Talent-Hunt' exercise at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Accra.
The Talent Hunt, which has been divided into four phases, is expected to select 23 players from a total of 2000 at the end of the exercise.
Mr Enoch Dodoo, General Manager of the Academy in an address at the opening of the first phase in Accra, which attracted about 500 players said the final squad of 23 to be selected at the end of the exercise would then be camped for a training tour of South Africa and France to develop their talents.
He said the aim of the exercise was to offer the youth with an opportunity to gain employment through football.
It is expected that the exercise would also serve as a source of ready material for the national football teams, Mr Dodoo said.
Mr Dodoo urged the players, especially the lucky one’s to be selected to take their training seriously and aspire to greater heights to win laurels for themselves and the nation.
He took the opportunity to advise the youth against being manipulated by politicians to indulge in violence before, during and after the elections on December 7 this year.
