Stakeholders in the health and education sectors are meeting in Sogakofe in the Volta region to review curricula for nursing and midwifery institutions since they assumed tertiary status in 2000.
Participants are drawn from the College of Health Sciences, the Conference of Heads of Training Institutions, the National Accreditation Board and the Ministry of Health.
Correspondent Agbeko Ben Coffie reports the meeting seeks to adopt measures that will transform the training of midwives and nurses in the country.
The Registrar of the Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana, Rev. Veronica Darko said the meeting was also to evaluate the results and challenges of the diploma courses being run by the various institutions.
She said the stakeholders were disturbed that certain nurses training institutions in the country lacked the minimum requirement to impart knowledge and skills to help their products adequately dispense standardised healthcare.
