Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) has made a triumphant entry into the grand finale of the GOIL PLC Volta-Oti Zonal Championship.
This will be their third time in the finals, after winning in 2021, and coming second to Mawuli in 2023.
The Eagles from the coast of Keta secured a slot after a convincing defeat to Mawuli School-Ho, and Kpando Senior High School in the second semifinal contest with 52 points. Before that, they registered an impressive 72-point win over Sonrise Christian High School and Kadjebi-Asato SHS in the quarter-final.
This second contest was expected to test their resilience when they came up against Kpasec, and defending champions Mawuli School who are also pushing to lift the trophy for the second time.

Mawuli School raised hopes high when they took the lead in the first round with a 5-point margin over Ketasco, ending the round with 22 points.
As if by some divine providence, the Eagles held fire to Mawuli’s feet in the second round, allowing Mawuli to add 5 points to their tally.
Mawuli dropped to second place at the end of this round on 27 points. Keta took charge with 36 points; double that of Kpasec’s 18.
The Eagles from the South of Volta soared higher up into the skies in the third round establishing their dominance with 49 points. But, Mawuli did not seem to be giving up. They held on to second place with 40 points, while Kpando lay at the bottom with 28 points.

In the last lap of riddles, each school gained three points to add to their tally. Keta SHTS secured a grand finale slot with 52 points. Mawuli came second with 43 points, and Kpando SHS third with 31 points.
In the first semi-final contest before this, Awudome SHS secured a 37-point victory over Bishop Herman 33pts and Zion College 31pts and according to the rules, one of the second-ranked schools from the two contest proceeds to the finals with the winners for a 3-team match.

As it stands, it is going to be a Ketasco v Mawuli v Awusco grand finale. Mawuli has gained that slot ahead of Bishop Herman because they are the second-placed highest-scoring school with 43 points.
Awusco comes up against two previous zonal champions; Mawuli who won in 2023, and Ketasco who are the first winners in 2021.
