After a spectacle of academic dominance, St. Louis SHS have booked a seat at the first semi-final contest of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz.
The school beat Ashanti regional champions, Anglican SHS - Kumasi and Wesley Grammar SHS to make their second appearance after thirteen years.
The girls from Ashanti region’s Oduom are set to face Wesley Girls’ High School and two time champions of the quiz, Achimota School in the first semi-final contest.
The school prior to their quarterfinal contest outclassed Central regional champions, Adisadel College in a 30-point gap win.
Many fanatics of the quiz had expected Super KASS, who are city rivals of the girls from Louisville, to bring on their A-game, but they fell short at early stages.
At the end of the contest, the Disciples only managed 24 points while Wesley Grammar trailed them with 21 points.
The girls, Faizatu Mbo and Philipa Ennuson, continue to stun enthusiasts of the quiz winning their quarterfinal contest with a 26-point margin ahead of their closest contender.
The ‘giant slayers’ as they have been nicknamed have become the favorite of many NSMQ sympathizers.
In an academic showdown, the girls paced their contenders at each round of the contest proving to be an invincible opponent as they fix their gaze on becoming the third female school to be at the grand-finale of the national tournament.
A resounding shout of victory erupted from the camp of ‘the pacesetters’ after they were called out to be the winners of the third quarterfinal contest.
Students and male affiliates of the school couldn’t hide their exhilaration as they sang, danced and hailed ‘Primus inter pares’ – to wit – the first amongst equal.
Management, present and past students of St. Louis SHS, and affiliates of the school are anticipating their appearance at the grand-finale of the competition.
It has been a decade since an all-female secondary school contested at the grand-finale of the National Science and Maths Quiz.
Wesley Girls’ High School and Mfantsiman Girls’ Secondary School hold the bragging right as the only two female schools to have sat on the grand-finale stage in 1999 and 2013 respectively.
