Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS will, for the third time in a row, miss out on the national championship of the 2021 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

They suffered a huge defeat at the hands of University Practice SHS in the second in the series of the Central Regional Qualifiers ongoing at the University of Cape Coast.

Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS were no contest for University Practice SHS as the latter dominated the four-round contest to seal their qualification to the national championship in October, 2021.

The winners ended the contest with an impressive 67 points, a whopping 48 points margin from their closest contender, Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS.

Mozano SHS and Namanwura Community Day SHS followed with 13 and 9 points respectively.

The remaining schools, Nyakrom SHTS completed the contest with 6 points whiles Bisease SHS managed just a point.

Mfantsiman Girls SHS have had a rickety campaign after their first ever appearance at the finals in 2013.

In 2018, the ladies failed to make an appearance at the national stage after they were handed a painful defeat by Boa Amponsem SHS in the Central Regional Qualifiers.

They suffered similar fate the following year when underdogs, Assin State College thwarted their quest to make it past the regionals.

Prior to this year’s contest, some NSMQ pundits predicted the ladies will not be able to qualify as their arch-rivals, University Practice SHS remains formidable in recent times.

Until Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS dot their i and cross their t , and return to their glory days; the national championship in Accra will continue to elude them.
