The race for which school wins the 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) commenced on Monday, April 25, 2022.

In the Bono Region, five contests were held in two days. The first four took place yesterday and the fifth contest was held today, Tuesday, April 26.

Twenty-four schools participated in the five contests in the region. In each of the first four contests, five schools participated. The last contest was the exception - that saw four schools battle it out.

Contest 1 - Sunyani SHS, Dormaa SHS, Badu SHTS, Nafana Presby SHS and Methodist SHTS, Berekum.

The winner of this contest was Sunyani SHS. The school scored 41 points.

Contest 2 - Odomaseman SHS, Drobo SHS, Nkoranman SHS, Salvation Army SHS, SDA SHS, Sunyani.

This contest proved to be a challenging one but in the end, Drobo SHS managed to earn the much coveted slot. With 27 points, they beat their contenders.

Contest 3 - Istiqaama SHS, Menji SHS, Jinijini SHS, Chiraa SHS and Notre Dame Girls' SHS.

With great force, Notre Dame Girls' SHS, belittled her contenders and carried the day. Its final score, 44, was double of the marks garnered by its closest contender, Chiraa SHS.

Contest 4 - Sacred Heart SHS, Berekum SHS, Nsawkaw State SHS, Twene Amanfo SHTS and Nkrankwanta SHS.

The contest ended with Berekum SHS on top of the list. With 32 points, Berekum SHS booked a slot at the preliminary stage of the National Championship.

The fifth contest that took place today ended in favour of St James Seminary SHS. The school did not just progress to the next stage but recorded the highest score so far.

With 53 points, St James Seminary SHS outclassed Goka SHTS, Sumaman SHS and OLP Girls' SHS.
