A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Another season of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) has begun in earnest with nearly 500 senior high schools (SHS) across the country battling it out for 108 slots available at the national championship which will happen later in October 2021.
There will be over 108 separate contests to be held in all 16 Regions and the winners qualify for the finals in Accra; except in the Upper East Region where there will be two hurdles to surmount.
The winners of the seven regional contests will ballot and meet in the second hurdle. In a three separate contest, the winners plus two highest scoring losing schools will progress to the national championships.
The competition produced by Primetime Limited will start in Upper West and Greater Accra Regions from Monday May 3, 2021 and expected to end from within the Eastern Region on Thursday, June 3.
Already reigning champion, Presbyterian Boys' SHS, Legon is among 27 seeded schools (quarter finalists) from 2020 to gain automatic qualification to this year’s national fiesta.
Two time champions, Mfantsipim School will for the second time in a row begin their campaign from Central regional qualifiers after failing to make it past the one-eighth stage of NSMQ 2020.
Winners for 2013, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS will also commence their campaign from the regionals.
Below are the fixtures for the 16 regional qualifiers and the respective dates the contests will be held.
