The boys from Pope John SHS charmed two all-female schools out of the one-eighth stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) on Tuesday.
Boarie Kingsley Shebazzor and Edward Boamah Boateng's 44 points was too much for Archbishop Porter Girls' SHS (30 points) and St. Monica's SHS (8 points) to stand.
Although Archbishop Porter Girls' Mercy Arthur and Nathelin at a point gave an indication they were going to give the 'Pojoba's' a touch run for their money, it was never to be.

For Sherifa Sherimiyawu and Comfort Asiedu who represented St Monica's SHS, the tide was too strong for them to swim with the others.
The Takoradi-based Archbishop Porter Girls' and Koforidua-based Pope Johns made their intentions known right from the first round.
It was a fierce contest as they slugged it out to end the Round One two points adrift of each other leaving Mampong-based St. Monica's with 2 points.
There was no time for catching any breath as Archbishop Porter Girls' with 17 points at the end of Round Two were on the tails of Pope Johns with 20 points.
St Monica's SHS did little to get out of their drowning situation.

St. Monica's SHS: 02pts

The 'Problem of the Day' Round gave the Koforidua boys some breathing space as they scored 5 points out of 10 points. St Monica's earned 2 points in while challenged for Archbishop Porter Girls' SHS scored zero.
In Round Four Archbishop Porter Girls' SHS turned the heat on as they closed the gap to score 30 points with Pope John SHS still leading with 35 points. Unable to rise from the ashes, St Monica's SHS was at the bottom of the score table with 8 points.
NNB: End of contest:
Pope John SHS: 44pts
Archbishop Porter Girls' SHS: 30pts
St. Monica's SHS: 08pts

Answering the first and last riddles on a few clues, Pope John SHS emerged winners at the end of the contest with 44 points. Although Archbishop Porter Girls' SHS tried their best the charm from Pojoba was too much to stand.
St Monica's SHS could not make a point in the last round and was knocked out with 8 points.
