Boa Amponsem SHS has qualified to its first-ever semi-final place in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) by eliminating GSTS and St Margaret Mary SHS from the competition.

Benedict Owusu and Franklin Appoh who represented Boa Amponsem SHS on Friday made history as they secured the first-ever slot in the semi-final stage for their school.

Though it was a fierce contest, the preparedness of the valiant warriors came to bare as they emerged winners at the end of the competition.

It was a tug of war in Round One with Boa Amponsem SHS and GSTS securing 13 points respectively. St Margaret Mary SHS trailed with 5 points.

GSTS fell off earlier than expected in Round Two with 7 points. In the lead was the Central region-based school with 14 points.

At the bottom of the pack with 3 points were the boys of St Margaret Mary SHS.

With no plans of giving up the lead position, Boa Amponsem SHS secured 2 points on the scoreboard in Round Three.

The 'Problem of the day' did not favour GSTS who managed only a point with St Margaret Mary SHS scoring zero.

In Round Four, Boa Amponsem SHS leapfrogged their contenders with a 9 point margin.

St Margaret Mary SHS picked up in this round and secured 14 points. GSTS earned 17 points on the scoreboard.

The Riddle round gave a scare to Boa Amponsem SHS as St Margaret Mary SHS pulled-off some tricks to earn 24 points.

However, Boa Amponsem fought back hard and led the pack with 27 at the end of the contest eliminating GSTS with 14 points and St Margaret Mary SHS from the NSMQ race.
