The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and the National Sports Council have extended their goodwill message to Ghana’s sports delegation and wished them success at the Ninth All Africa Games currently underway in Algiers, Algeria.
The message drew the attention of the contingent to their unique opportunity of representing the country which is as a result of the talent they possess and have been able to nurture and develop and therefore pray that they emerge tops as they come up against their other colleagues from the African continent.
Mr Charles J. Aryeh, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the NSC said this in a release copied to the GNA Sports on behalf of the Council and the Ministry.
He said this is the first time that Ghana is sending such a large contingent in 13 sporting disciplines to any tournament and that the Council has the conviction that they would excel and bring glory to the country.
Mr Aryeh said government has invested so much towards the preparation of the various teams for the tournament which included non-residential and residential camping, as well as the official visits and medical attention which were all aimed at ensuring their welfare, which all goes to indicates government’s interest in the promotion and development of Ghana sports.
“Ghana and Ghanaians are therefore expecting so much from “Team Ghana” from this tournament and others. It is our hope that you do everything in your power to win medals to justify government’s investment. You can do it”, he added.
He also wished them God’s Grace to bring honour and glory to their Motherland and wished them Good Luck.
