Members of the Ghana Cycling Association (GCA) have been advised to avoid petty squabbles and divisions since such negative acts could destroy the Association's efforts at developing cycling in the country.
"A divided house can easily be dismantled, but a united house can't be destroyed," Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) said when the National Cycling team paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Accra.
Prince Oduro-Mensah, who is a former Member of Parliament for Techiman South, further charged members of the team, as well its officials to as a matter of urgency to forge ahead with unity so as to form a formidable national team capable of outclassing their international opponents.
"Nothing can stop us from success, when peace, unity and harmony prevails in NSC," the Chief Executive pointed out.
Prince Oduro-Mensah challenged the cyclists to train hard in order to make enough impact at international competitions, adding that he was going to take a critical look at the possibility of including the National Cycling team in Ghana's contingent for this year’s All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria.
The Cycling team and officials led by the Association's Chairman, Lawyer Sahnoon Mohammed, pledged to adhere to the words of wisdom by the CEO.
They later presented a trophy to the CEO which the team won at a 490-km Reconciliation Championship in Cote d'Ivoire, on February 24, 2007.
The competition formed part of the Association’s efforts at preparing the team for the All Africa Games.
