The Northern Regional police may soon conduct investigations into allegations of arms being smuggled into Karaga.
The move follows latest allegations that the presiding member of the Karaga district assembly, Alhassan Sani, allergedly smuggled a rifle into the town. He is said to have hidden the rifle in a bush close to a community school.
The rifle was however gone the following day. Mr Sani then accused the assembly man for the Song traditional area Mahama Mahama of stealing the gun. The assembly member however fled in the heat of threats on his life by Mr Sani.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Idris Dauda, disclosing the developments to Joy News’ correspondent Mahama Shaibu in Tamale said a police investigation is imminent.
Mr Sani has denied any scuffle with Mr Mahama. He claims he only met Mr Mahama at a voter registration station where he (Sani) spoke to some of the eligible voters present.
