National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the governing party's neglect of Ashanti Region in infrastructural development is enough reason to vote against the party.
According to a former Ashanti Regional Minister, Eric Osei even though the NPP has borrowed a $140 billion for development of the country, the stronghold of the party is yet to benefit.
Speaking at an NDC Townhall meeting held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Great Hall Tuesday, he stated that the NPP has taken the people in the region for granted.
Comparing the track record of the NDC and NPP in term of infrastructure, he said the two parties are miles apart.
Kumasi Central Market among other satellite markets developed by John Mahama government are examples of economic investments given by the party, he said.
Mr Opoku refuted claims that the party refused to work on the Mother and Baby Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
He lamented the lack of street lights, renovations on Rattray Park, failure of government to complete and/or build senior high schools among others.
The former Minister called on the people of Ashanti Region to vote the NDC adding that the party is willing to do more for the Region than the NPP has done for it.
Mr Opoku, who is also the MP for Asunafo South Constituency, added that he is confident the NDC, when voted into power, will improve agriculture in the country.
He said that people in the Ashanti region should prove to the NPP that they are invested and interested in growth and not retrogression by voting for the NDC.
He added that Mahama will work hard to fulfill the promises made to the people in the Ashanti Region.
