The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticised the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) over its decision to declare former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, wanted.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Monday, February 17, the National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, questioned the rationale behind the OSP's actions, describing them as unnecessary and sensational.
"I am particularly humbled as to why the OSP is still engaging in this drama, in this sensational act going nowhere. How can you declare a person who is not under arrest, or who has not been arrested in any suspicion, any grounds whatsoever, of any crime, or has he been charged with a particular offense wanted?" he questioned.
"I read the notice, and he says that anybody with information about Ofori-Atta should alert the Office of the Special Prosecutor, and I'm like, this is laughable," he added.

His comment follows the OSP officially declaring Mr Ofori-Atta wanted to multiple financial misconduct allegations.
Mr Boakye further argued that even if Mr. Ofori-Atta appeared before the OSP, he has constitutional rights that allow him to remain silent and not answer questions to be put before him by the Special Prosecutor.
"It is enshrined in the Constitution, so even if a person should appear before you and he decides not to talk, what do you do?" he stated.
He challenged the OSP to proceed to court if it has sufficient evidence against the former minister.
