With only a few hours to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, the party has expressed optimism that all is set for the smooth running of the polls.

Ahead of the ballots, the Secretary to the Party’s Presidential Elections Committee, William Yamoah has assured delegates that the party has put in place adequate measures to ensure utmost peace and security during the elections.

Speaking on the Midday News on Joy FM on Friday, he said “We have arrangements with the Ghana Police Service. They have come up with their operational plan and strategy so we are confident that in terms of security arrangement, we are on top because we are using only Ghana Police Service.”

He explained that the party was aware that elections might be characterized by some level of violence, however, the party has put strategies in place to address such issues.

Mr Yamoah stressed that no party security will be used at the polling centres on Saturday.

His comments come on the back of violent activities that characterised the recent Super Delegate Congress which was held in August.

Again, touching on the accusations of vote buying, and delegate influencing, he said “We have no evidence or report of that nature.”

Meanwhile, JoyNews has gathered that voting materials have been distributed at vantage points across the country to prevent late arrivals and voting as the party intends to stick to the 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. voting schedule as announced by their General Secretary on Thursday.

In a move to avoid a repeat of members breaking away from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the presidential primaries, the party has committed all four aspirants to sign a stringent legal commitment stick with the party.

This means that Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Addai Nimoh, and Dr. Afriyie Akoto cannot resign from the party no matter who wins the elections.
