The Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Iddrisu Sunday has denied any involvement in an alleged demand of $20,000 bribe from the CEO of Alafei Company.
Alafei alleges the money was to facilitate a meeting with President Akufo-Addo.
According to Mr Sunday, he did not know Mr Claude Convincer Davit and had only met him once in 2017 when he came to his office in the Northern region to request assistance so he could be considered by the 1D1F Secretariat for jatropha plantation.
In a press release signed by Alhaji Sunday's press secretary, Mr. Anyass Gazali, he said “The first time I set my eyes on Mr. Davit was in early 2017 when he came to my private office in the North through a young businessman with a proposal on jatropha plantation for the production of biofuel in the Northern Region.
"The purpose of their visit was to seek political assistance from my outfit to get their proposal considered by the 1D1F Secretariat in Accra...”
The release continued; “Our discussion ended when I advised them to write straight to the Secretariat and also copy the Minister for Trade and Industry and get me the notification from there to help them see what I can do. Mr. Davit and his team left my office on the 20th May 2017 and since then I have never set my eyes on him.”
Again, the release clarified that Alhaji Sunday did not introduce Mr Davit to Mr Asenso-Boakye, stressing that “claim of money from him to be given to Hon. Asenso-Boakye or anyone for that matter.”
Furthermore, the press statement appealed to the general public to disregard all allegations from Mr. Davit and to treat the same with utmost contempt.
Meanwhile, the statement added that the forwarded video has been sent to his laws for the needed legal action to be taken against Mr Davit.
The November 29, release was in response to an allegation by Mr Davit in a video that has since gone viral that Alhaji Sunday and Mr Asenso-Boakye had demanded an amount of $20,000 from him before they could aid him in getting access to the president.
