The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost one of its leaders to the dreadful coronavirus pandemic in Denmark.
According to 'Daily Guide' newspaper, Kwabena Maanu died on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
He is identified as one of the three Ghanaians who have been killed in Europe after contracting the coronavirus. He was one of the leaders of NPP-Denmark.
The other two, according to Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, passed on in Italy.
Mr. Manu reportedly suffered a brain haemorrhage in December 2019 and had been in and out of coma at an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Denmark.
However, as his condition stabilised, he got exposed to the infectious virus at his recovery ward.
With an already weakened immune system, Mr. Manu couldn't survive the dreaded coronavirus.
Mr Maanu was an influential music figure in Denmark during the 80s and early 90s.
He teamed up with Danish music moguls at the time to promote the annual Afro-Caribbean music festival in Denmark.
It was through him that big names like AfroMoses, Kojo Antwi and Youssou N’Dour first visited Europe before becoming stars.
His death has reportedly received a wide coverage in the Danish media.
“They refer to him as the man who brought African rhythm to Denmark," says Kennedy Adjei, chairman of NPP-Demnark. "He’s indeed a legend here and we are saddened by his passing. May the good Lord accept his soul.”
