The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), say the fanfare that have so far characterized the picking of and filing nomination forms by its presidential aspirants is part of the Danquah/Busia tradition.
The General Secretary of the Party, Nana Ohene Ntow, told Joy News that, the excitement that accompanies the candidates is part of the party’s tradition.
Speaking to Joy News, he said because the NPP spent 30 years in opposition, it is not surprising that the excitement has increased since the party got into power.
He said, the party has momentum, tradition and attraction, and he asserts that the crowds follow the aspirants because the NPP has done so much for Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, five other spirants on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 picked their nomination forms from the party headquarters.
The five were, Felix Owusu Agyepong, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Hackman Owusu Agyeman, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, and Yaw Osafo Maafo.
So far 17 candidates have picked the forms, two have submitted the forms and paid the nomination fees of GH¢25,000.
Among the known aspirants, the Vice President, Aliu Mahama is yet to pick his forms.
Sources close to the Vice President told Joy News that he will pick his nomination forms on Wednesday September 26, but without the crowds and excitement that have characterized the others.
