The New Patriotic Party is scheming to wrestle the Ho Central parliamentary seat from the opposition National Democratic Congress in the 2024 general elections.
The Volta Regional First Vice Chairperson, Ken Ayim, who made this known implored party executives to put their hands to the wheel to achieve this feat.
He was speaking at a gathering of Ho Central NPP polling station executives to feast and strategise towards the 2024 general elections.
He expressed optimism the feat could be achieved when the rank and file of the party supports the bid and implored the constituency executives to provide a marketable candidate to kick-start campaign activities.
He explained that the President is expectant of the Constituency delivering the seat to the NPP, “that was why he appointed Dr. Letsa who is from Ho Central in 2017 and reappointed him in 2021“.
“We want the Constituency to give us a candidate even before the parliamentary primaries. We want to take the Ho Central seat from the NDC. It is doable, we did it before and we can do it again. The Regional party will give all the support to enable us win the seat by hook or crook”, he stressed.
The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Divine Bosson, said he would lead the Assembly to harness the development in the municipality to win the hearts of the electorates in the opposition’s stronghold to vote for the NPP in the 2024 elections.
“We can’t win the hearts of the electorates when I don’t work hard as the MCE. I have planned to work hard, I will seek development for the municipality and not money. I want to unite the Constituency so that we can break the 8 in 2024”, he said.
He listed a litany of projects being undertaken by the government and implored the party faithful to ‘match the NDC boot for boot’ in the municipality.
“When they say the Akufo-Addo-led government took too many loans, point to the Ho Market Project, Volta Regional Youth Resource Centre, the Sokode-Ho dual carriage road and the others”, he said.
The Ho Central Constituency Chairman, Frank Ahaze, counselled members not to engage in politics of insults on social media, but rather harness their energy and project their preferred candidate towards the presidential primaries.
“None of the presidential candidate hopefuls is a member of NDC or CPP, they are all NPP members. We must desist from politics of insults. We should only promote and support our preferred candidates, so we will remain united and contest the NDC in 2024”, he said.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, implored the constituents to continue supporting the government which is determined to take Ghana out of the economic difficulties.
