Management of the Northern Star Tomato Processing Factory in the Upper East region has denied claims that it did not buy all the produce of farmers operating within its facility.
The Northern Star Tomato Factor previously known as the Pwalugu Tomato Factory was rejuvenated in February to process tomato produced in the area.
Speaking to Joy News, the President of the Tomato Processors Association in the region, Mr. Asuah Abdulah expressed worry about the inability of the factory to buy all tomatoes produced because of lack of crates and transportation facilities from their farms to the factory.
Mr. Abdulah said the situation led to losses of the tomato.
But Joy News sources at the Northern Star Tomato Processing Factory said the assertion is inaccurate.
The management said though its crates were limited it paid farmers for transporting the tomato to the factory.
Information available to Joy News indicated that the factory hoped to acquire about 8000 crates by the beginning of the next tomato season in September this year to give more farmers access to the factory.
