An Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association Wilfred Osei says he absented himself from a meeting with sports minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuaye because the meeting was not worth the salt.
Recent comments from both parties have created tension which many fear could affect football development in the country and more importantly Ghana's quest to make a fourth successive World Cup appearance.
Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuaye in his attempt to end what looks like a feud between his outfit and the GFA called for a meeting which according to Jou Sports checks, the top hierarchy of the GFA failed to attend.
Osei Palmer who doubles as the vice chairman of the Black Stars management committee gave an idea why he and some other top officials of the FA failed to meet the Sports Minister.
“I have a simple principle in life that I wouldn’t want to transact business with anyone who will bear his teeth and turn his cheek to the other side, the moment you do that you have not demonstrated good to me,” he told Joy Sports
“We are on very good terms with Nii and I must say that even before he became the Minister he was a personal friend and he assuming authority as the Minister should bring any misunderstanding between us and him.
He added that “But I don’t see why I should go for a meeting where I will pretend as if we have a very good relationship with the Sports Minister when in actual fact things are not like that."
“I am of the view that so far there is an issue between us and the Ministry we need a higher authority to mediate because the Minsiter cannot be a judge in his own court.”
As things stand, a mediator will be needed to settle the impasse between both parties.
