Popular Kumawood actress, Mercy Aseidu says she has not been celebrated enough as far as her works in the movie industry are concerned.
According to the 50-year-old actress, that will not deter her from putting in her best for the movie industry.
She on E Vibes that; “even within the industry, they don’t celebrate me. No one seems to even appreciate the work we put in."
She added that her focus is to educate Ghanaians and showcase the country's culture.
“Whether I’m celebrated or not, the focus is to educate and entertain. It has nothing to do with being celebrated. I’m not expecting any celebrating whatsoever, if people want to celebrate me I will appreciate it,” she told JoyNews' Becky.
Born on May 9, 1971, the versatile actress has stared in hundreds of movies over her 25-year career.
Some of them are ‘Obaakofou’, ‘Sumsum’, ‘Aware’, ‘Kakra Yebedie’, ‘Agya Koo Trotro’, ‘Ghana Yonko’, ‘Emma Dodo Kunu’, Divine Prayer, Obi Yaa, Sama Te fie, and Old Soldier.
The popular ‘Asoreba’ movie introduced her to movie lovers across the country and she had become arguably one of the most successful Kumawood actresses in Ghana.
She began acting when she was a teenager, as part of the Kristo Asafor Concert Party group.
She is known for the controversial roles she has played in movies.
